       High-speed steel roll has the advantages of long service life, smooth material surface and even thickness. At present, Centrifugal casting is widely used in industry to produce high-speed Steel Roll Rings, which is simple in process and low in cost. However, due to the high content of CR, V, W, Mo and other alloy elements in high-speed steel materials for rolls, therefore, under the action of Centrifugal Force, composition segregation is easy to occur

during solidification, which makes the performance of outer working layer of roller ring lower than that of inner non-working layer.
      The electroslag remelting (ESR) method was used to prepare the high speed steel roll materials, and the suitable modifying agent was used to avoid the segregation of the inner and outer layers, improve the structure and improve the properties of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, good results have been achieved. They use recycled high-speed steel as raw material, M2 high-speed steel roll material, YFB heavy rare-earth complex modifier product model made by Ganzhou yttrium rare-earth materials company, and cast consumable electrode rods in vacuum medium-frequency induction furnace, the weight of the modifier is 1% of the weight of high speed steel, then the electrode bar is electroslag remelted, and the 110mm 300mm high speed steel roller ingot is prepared by using Caf2-al2o3-cao ternary slag. After heat treatment, the high speed steel roller ingot is annealed at 800 °C + quenched at 1050 °c + tempered twice at 550 °C.
      Metallographic examination showed that the EUTECTIC carbides in the high speed steel samples without modification had coarse structure and fishnet structure. The coarse EUTECTIC carbides are enriched at the grain boundary, mainly in the form of Fishbone, and only a small amount of granular eutectic carbides are distributed in the grains, while the morphology of Eutectic carbides is changed in the high speed steel samples with modifying agents, at the same time, the EUTECTIC carbides increase and the grains become smaller. After annealing, quenching and tempering, the network structure of grain carbides was further broken, and the grain carbides became finer than those of high speed steel without modifier, the amount and distribution of granular EUTECTIC carbides are more uniform, and the tendency of fracture of network structure is more obvious. Accordingly, the impact toughness increased from 8.7 j / CM2 to 9.8 j / CM2. The experimental results show that the impact toughness and bending

strength of HSS can be improved by ESR and adding modifier during remelting.
      The high-speed steel was prepared by Electroslag remelting (ESR) . During the melting process, the cooling rate of water-cooled crystallizer is much faster than that of centrifugal casting, the increase of nucleation rate and refinement of primary grains, as well as the reduction of multiple dendrite branches and dendrite spacing, resulted in the fracture of some eutectic carbide networks in hss samples. The addition of modifiers can greatly promote the

formation of MC EUTECTIC carbides with high hardness and high temperature stability in the grains, and the addition of modifiers can remove the S and o elements in the steel, in the following solidification process, EUTECTIC carbides can be formed at grain boundaries to refine the EUTECTIC carbides at grain boundaries. In addition, M7C3 EUTECTIC carbides with coarse grain boundaries in the samples with modifiers were decomposed after heat treatment to form fine M2C and M6C EUTECTIC carbides, therefore, after heat treatment, the EUTECTIC carbidenetwork structure of the sample is further fractured.
